New York-based MedXwaste has won approval for a new medical waste transfer station to be sited at 81 Farwell St. in West Haven, the company announced this week.
The company said it worked with town and industry officials for two years to get the go-ahead for the new facility.
MedXwaste CEO Sean Fredricks said, “Our company is very excited to move into the next phase of opening and utilizing the medical waste processing facility in West Haven.”
The new transfer station will consolidate waste processing, localize service and boost energy savings, according to MedXwaste. It will also add a new wash system for reusable medical waste containers, reducing its carbon footprint by using less cardboard and non-reusable plastic.
The new facility’s location in an industrial area off the Boston Post Road also allows for the use of tractor trailers for moving materials instead of small trucks for improved efficiency, the company said in a statement.
MedXwaste, based in Deer Park, N.Y., works with healthcare providers in Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Massachusetts and Illinois.
