QU Physician Assistant Honored

Cynthia Lord, clinical associate professor and director of Quinnipiac University's physician assistant program, has been named the outstanding PA by The American Academy of Physician Assistants. Examples of Lord's service activities range from fundraising for nonprofit organizations to caring for the homeless, promoting literacy in children and providing medical care for migrant farm workers. She has also worked to improve healthcare delivery on the national level through her leadership on the AAPA Board of Directors, the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants Foundation, the National Interprofessional Initiative on Oral Health and the National Institutes of Health National Program to Reduce Cardiovascular Risk Coordinating Committee.

Dyson Awarded For Volunteer Work

David Dyson, who transformed a modest tag sale into the yearly GIANT Tag Sale that in nine years has raised $112,000 for Tabor House, an AIDS residence program in Hartford, was recently honored at a gala at the Elizabeth Park Pond House by Hartford Mayor Pedro Segarra, who declared May 18 'David Dyson Day.' Dyson was the first person to receive the Tabor House's Dyson Family Volunteer Award — recognizing not only Dyson's contributions, but also those of his mother, Loretta, a founding trustee, and more than a dozen other family members since Tabor House opened in 1990.

Lawyer Group Honors Koskoff

Joshua Koskoff, an attorney with the law firm of Koskoff, Koskoff & Bieder was recently named a Fellow of the International Society of Barristers — an international honor society of trial lawyers. The law firm has offices in Bridgeport, Stamford, Danbury and New Haven.

Manchester Honda Awarded

Manchester Honda was recently presented with the American Honda President's Award for 2011 — an annual award presented to the top-ranking Honda dealerships across the country based on customer service and performance in all departments in the dealership. It is the highest award that Honda bestows on its dealerships and only the top 15 percent of all Honda dealerships qualify. This marks the 12th time Manchester Honda has won the award.

Andreotta Earns Service Award

The National Association of Workforce Development Professionals recently announced that Paul Andreotta Sr. is the recipient of the Jodie Spiegel Enhancement of Customer Service Award — recognizing individuals who have made significant contributions to the profession through their dedication to and enhancement of customer service benefiting customers of the workforce development system. Andreotta assists ex-offenders and employers for Capital Workforce Partners' contracted service provider's CareerTEAM through its Ex-Offender Retention Program.

Attorneys Earn Pro Bono Award

Wiggin and Dana recently announced James Glasser and Tahlia Townsend as the 2011 Pro Bono Achievement Award recipients. Glasser, a partner in Wiggin and Dana's New Haven office and co-chair of the White Collar Defense, Investigations and Corporate Compliance Practice Group, spent more than 400 hours on pro bono matters in 2010 and 2011. Townsend, an associate in the New Haven office and a member of the firm's Litigation Department, has spent more than 1,500 hours on pro bono matters over the past four years.
