Late-night bakery chain Insomnia Cookies planned, with much fanfare, to open a new location in downtown Hartford on Jan. 4.
A grand-opening celebration, with free samples, was scheduled from 12 p.m. to 3 a.m. that day.
It didn’t happen.
Now, the cookie shop planned for a 1,500-square-foot storefront at 247 Asylum St., in the Maison Morneault building, is expected to open in March.
A company representative didn’t immediately respond to a question about the reason for the delay, but confirmed the new Hartford location is expected to open in March.
The Asylum Street space is a short walk from the XL Center, Bushnell Park, Pratt Street and other downtown Hartford attractions.
Insomnia Cookies is known for its freshly baked cookie delivery service, which runs until 1 a.m. or 3 a.m., depending on the day of the week. It offers cookie flavors such as Chocolate Chunk, Snickerdoodle, Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup and S’mores Deluxe.
The bakery has more than 300 stores across the country. Hartford would be its third location in Connecticut. The others are in New Haven and Storrs.
