A total of 122 Connecticut entertainment venues and museums have received more than $90 million in federal aid through the Shuttered Venue Operators Grant program.

The numbers, which were reported by the Small Business Administration, mark a sharp increase in funding to these organizations since last week, when SBA reported Connecticut venues had received about $65 million through the program.

"Connecticut venues and destinations are opening up, shows are being scheduled and families are rediscovering museums and aquariums due to SBA's Shuttered Venue Operators Grant funding," said Catherind Marx, SBA Connecticut’s District Director.

The grant program, a carve-out of the American Rescue Plan, was signed into law at the end of last year, and includes $15 billion in relief grants to closed entertainment venues.

According to SBA data, the largest Connecticut beneficiaries of the Shuttered Venues program so far are Bow Tie Cinemas in Ridgefield, which received $10 million, and the Mystic Aquarium, which received $6 million.
