The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation, operators of Foxwoods casino, named Jason Guyot as  the resort’s new president and CEO.

Guyot has been interim CEO since April 2020 and has led Foxwoods through the financial crisis brought on by the COVID0-19 pandemic.

“Jason Guyot is the right leader with the right vision to drive Foxwoods through its next phase of evolution, and we are equally proud that Jason is our first Pequot CEO,”  said Rodney Butler, chairman of the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation. “What Jason has done over the past twelve months has been remarkable, taking the helm of Foxwoods at the onset of the pandemic, building safety guidelines from the ground up to ensure guests feel safe, and championing a new kind of culture for our team members.”

Guyot began his career at Foxwoods in 2003, holding positions in human resources, marketing, gaming, and hotel operations. He also held the role of senior vice president of resort operations, guiding the property’s food and beverage, hotel operations, resort services, engineering and resort sales and development divisions.

The state’s tribal casinos have shown signs of rebound in recent months, with revenues at both Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods rising in January, typically gaming’s slowest month.

Foxwoods Resort Casino reopened its poker room earlier this month and plans to reopen the Rainmaker Casino, Live@Atrium Bar and Topgolf Swing Suite by the beginning of April.

Even so, debt-rating agency Moody’s earlier this year added a “ limited default” designation to the debt rating of the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation after the tribe obtained another extension to the due date of a major loan.
