The former Perri Sausage building in New Haven has been purchased by the owner of a national juice and beverage distributor who is continuing his local company expansion.
The 21,500-square-foot building at 26 Kendall St. had been home to the family-owned Perri Sausage company since it was built in the 1960s.
It was sold to David Milburn, owner of New Haven-based Harvest Beverage Group, for $2.5 million in a deal recorded June 4.
Milburn could not be reached for comment. He was represented by JD Altobello, of Trophy Properties, in the deal.
Harvest Beverage had been occupying the Kendall Street building for nearly a year under a lease-to-buy option and recently made the purchase, Altobello said.
Harvest Beverage makes cold-pressed juices, along with smoothies and vegan items that are distributed throughout the U.S. under private label products sold at Costco and other national health food chains, Altobello said.
Altobello said Milburn is keeping the company’s previous 222 Forbes Ave. headquarters, mainly for storage, while all production has been moved to the new space.
Milburn has added at least a dozen new workers in the new plant, and is currently adding on to the new building with future plans for expansion, Altobello said.
Richard P. Ballou, of Houlihan Lawrence Wareck D’Ostilio, represented the seller.
The building sits on 1.27 acres near the New Haven harbor and industrial corridor.
