Petit foundation supports science camp

The Children's Museum in West Hartford received a $5,000 grant from the Petit Family Foundation to support 25 girls from the Boys & Girls Clubs of Hartford to participate in a summer science camp program. Members of the Petit family are shown left presenting a check to the museum.

Willimantic's Savings Institute Bank & Trust recently raised $3,400 for local organizations, including Windham Area Interfaith Ministry, Northeast Opportunity for Wellness and Jonnycake Centers of Peacedale and Westerly. The funds were raised through the bank's 100 percent employee-funded Caring and Giving Program.

The Hartford Foundation for Public Giving awarded $800,000 in grants to summer learning programs in Greater Hartford. The grants will support 55 programs, including reduced fees for 34 campers.

Howley Bread Group, a franchisee of Panera Bread, raised $13,000 during its annual fundraising campaign for the Autism Speaks Walk. The check was presented during the walk at Rentschler Field in East Hartford.
