A physical therapy practice with almost two dozen Connecticut locations says it will open its newest outpost in West Hartford later this month.
Physical Therapy & Sports Medicine Centers (PTSMC) on Wednesday announced plans to launch its 22nd facility at the corner of South Main Street and Sedgwick Road on April 29.
The West Hartford location will add to PTSMC’s growing footprint in Greater Hartford. It has other clinics in Newington, Windsor, Middletown, Plainville, Avon and Southington.
West Hartford resident and physical therapist Tom Kassan will lead the West Hartford location as partner and director of the new facility.
After earning his doctorate of physical therapy from UConn in 2014, Kassan has worked as a physical therapist at Orthopedic Associates of Hartford and then Connecticut Physical Therapy Specialists in Hartford. He also served in a clinical position at PTSMC in Newington.
PTSMC President Alan Balavender, a former physical therapist, established the practice after acquiring a physical therapy business in Waterbury in 2000. Today, PTSMC serves more than 17,000 patients a year.
