A plan to build a 600-unit self-storage facility at the site of a Pepperidge Farm factory in Norwalk has received a green light from the city.
Six weeks ago, New York-based developer TVG Partners proposed partially turning a former 118,100-square-foot Pepperidge Farm office/factory, at 595 Westport Ave., in Norwalk, into a three-story self-storage building, while keeping existing office space.
The 6.53-acre property has several buildings, including a large commercial building that was most recently used by Pepperidge Farm, until the company closed the office in 2023. The building, located on the west side of the property, includes 25,362 square feet of office space and 85,456 square feet of manufacturing space.
The site has 411 parking spaces, exceeding the 94 spaces required for the proposed self-storage facility and office space, according to an application filed with the city.
TVG Partners is under contract to buy the property from Pepperidge Farm Inc., which was acquired by Campbell Soup in 1961. Campbell Soup closed the office in 2023 and consolidated operations to Camden, New Jersey. Pepperidge Farm still has a production facility in Bloomfield.
