National Fitness Partners, a private equity held Planet Fitness franchisee based in Camp Hill, Pennsylvania, recently acquired 13 Planet Fitness Centers in Massachusetts and Connecticut.
The acquisition brings NFP’s total number of fitness clubs to 136, with 1,700 employees and more than 1 million members.
The company’s new Connecticut locations are at 139 Hazard Ave., in Enfield and 10 East St., in East Granby.
The Massachusstts locations are in Springfield (Liberty Street and Parker Street), West Springfield, Holyoke, Chicopee, Belchertown, Hadley, Pittsfield, North Adams, Westfield and Northampton.
“We have been on a mission to serve over a million members in our business and we’re so proud to have reached that goal,” said Stephen Kindler Jr., president and CEO of NFP. “We know the importance of regular exercise and are committed to ensuring people have access to an affordable fitness option where they can reach their goals.”
According to an announcement from the company, the acquisition, completed on Nov. 16, enhances NFP's regional presence. There is only one other independently-owned Planet Fitness in the region.
NFP is a portfolio company of Argonne Capital Group LLC, an Atlanta-based private investment firm.
NFP, founded in 2016, owns and operates Planet Fitness locations in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, North Carolina and South Carolina, in addition to Massachusetts and Connecticut.
