A special promotion aimed at helping New Haven restaurants through the pandemic proved to be so well-received, organizers are planning a repeat.
The original “New Haven To Go!” event featured about 31 restaurants in February. The second edition will run from Sunday, March 28 through Thursday, April 1.
The event is a joint venture of Market New Haven Inc. and the city of New Haven.
Bruno Baggetta, acting director for Market New Haven, said the original promotion in February was “incredibly successful.”
“We decided to move forward with a second round,” Baggetta said, in an announcement. “Promotional activations, like ‘New Haven To Go!’ are an essential component of Market New Haven’s recovery plan. These types of promotions support and bolster business in a meaningful way during these extremely challenging times.”
During the five-night promotion, participating restaurants will offer to-go dinners priced at $20.21 per person. The price does not include beverages, tax, gratuity or delivery charges.
Each “New Haven To Go!” menu is unique to each participating restaurant, and designed by the local chef, with the goal of giving diners new cuisine to enjoy.
At Caffe Bravo, for example, the special menu includes a “Mediterraneo Salad” of mixed greens, carrots, shaved fennel, red onion, cherry tomatoes, and extra virgin olive oil, plus “Rigatoni alla Siciliana,” which features eggplant, marinara, mozzarella, basil, and parmigiana.
The promotion announcement comes along with other good news for restaurants, as Connecticut as of Friday eased many capacity limit restrictions that have been in place due to COVID-19.
