Hartford-based ProPark Mobility has won a public contract to operate seven downtown parking garages.
Board members of the Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) on Thursday voted to award the five-year contract, which totals nearly 7,700 parking spots, to ProPark.
The garages covered by the contract include the Connecticut Convention Center and three other facilities in Adriaen’s Landing -- the Morgan and Church street garages and soon-to-be-opened Bushnell South garage.
ProPark, which has already been operating the Church Street garage adjacent to the XL Center, bested three other final bidders, including Hartford-based competitor LAZ Parking, which had previously held the contract for the Adriaen’s Landing facilities and the 3,683 total parking spaces they contain.
Bidding was competitive, CRDA board members said, with ProPark offering to charge CRDA no parking management fee over the five years, producing savings of more than $447,000 compared to the expiring contracts.
The value of the new contract wasn’t immediately available.
