A plan to construct 89 units of senior housing on 1.8-acres in Shelton has been turned down, but the applicant may come back with new plans.
Shelton developer J + L Enterprises has proposed building a 90,637-square-foot, five-story building on a vacant lot, at 74 Todd Road, within a planned development district, according to an application filed with the town.
The building would have contained 12 studio units, 61 one-bedroom units, 12 one-bedroom units with a den, and four two-bedroom units on the second through fifth stories. It would have had garages on the ground floor.
The applicant gave a letter on April 24 to the Planning and Zoning Commission that said it would reduce the number of proposed units, remove the 55-plus age restriction, reconfigure the parking and add more green space and landscaping. The applicant also asked the commission to extend the public hearing on the proposal to June 20.
The panel unanimously denied the application without prejudice to allow the applicant to reapply with revised plans.
