Prospect Medical Holdings said late Tuesday that Deborah Weymouth has been named the new president and CEO of its Connecticut operations.
Weymouth, who has served as CEO for Eastern Connecticut Health Network (ECHN), assumed the role of Waterbury HEALTH president and CEO on Feb. 9. She succeeds Dr. Justin Lundbye, who announced he was leaving effective March 8 to become president of Good Samaritan Hospital in Long Island, New York.
The change comes as the bid by Yale New Haven Health to acquire Waterbury Hospital and ECHN’s Manchester Memorial and Rockville hospitals has dragged on for more than a year. Prospect Medical Holdings owns all three hospitals.
Weymouth had served as CEO of ECHN since October 2019. Before that, she led the three-hospital UMass Memorial Healthcare system. While serving in that role, she oversaw enhancements in healthcare quality, access, and technological innovation, while prioritizing safety measures to elevate patient experience, ECHN said in a news release.
“I am excited to take on this new role as CEO of Waterbury HEALTH and to work with the hospital’s dedicated physicians, nurses, and other staff,” Weymouth said in the release. “I am committed to ensuring every patient receives the highest quality of care, and strengthening our connections with the community we serve.”
Lundbye joined Waterbury HEALTH in December 2016 as senior vice president and chief medical officer. He was promoted to CEO in October 2021.
As CEO, he led the organization through the COVID-19 pandemic, while also leading the implementation of new technology and new services for patients.
In addition to Waterbury Hospital, Waterbury HEALTH includes Alliance Medical Group, Cardiology Associates of Greater Waterbury, VNA Health at Home, Access Rehab Centers, and Greater Waterbury Imaging Center.
