The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) has extended the accreditation of the business and accounting programs at Quinnipiac University for five years.
AACSB accreditation is a hallmark of distinction in higher business education and has been earned by less than five percent of the world's business schools, according to AACSB. In addition, only 189 institutions worldwide hold additional AACSB accreditation for their accounting programs, a distinction held by the top one percent of business programs in the world, according to the group.
“We are proud of our faculty and their continued commitment to providing high quality educational experiences for our students,” said Matthew O’Connor, dean of QU’s School of Business, in announcing the renewed accreditation. “Embracing AACSB’s philosophy of innovation, engagement and impact, our students become leaders in their organizations and contribute to their communities.”
Achieving accreditation requires a high level of proficiency in areas relating to strategic management and innovation; student, faculty, and staff as active participants; learning and teaching; and academic and professional engagement.
To achieve accounting accreditation specifically, institutions must first earn AACSB business accreditation. Then, accounting accreditation requires the satisfaction of a supplemental set of standards specific to the discipline and profession of accounting. Once accreditation is achieved, each institution participates in a five-year continuous improvement peer-review to maintain high quality and extend its accreditation.
"Every AACSB-accredited school has demonstrated a focus on excellence in all areas, including teaching, research, curricula development, and student learning,” said Stephanie M. Bryant, executive vice president and chief accreditation officer of AACSB. “The intense peer-review process exemplifies their commitment to quality business education."
The School of Business at Quinnipiac has been accredited by AACSB since 2000 and the accounting program since 2018.
