Quinnipiac School of Law names new dean

Quinnipiac University Brian Gallini

Brian Gallini, currently a dean and law professor in Oregon, has been appointed dean and tenured professor of law at the Quinnipiac University School of Law.

Gallini is taking over for Jennifer Gerarda Brown, who is stepping down on June 30, after more than a decade as dean. Brown will return to the faculty to focus on her teaching and research, Provost Debra Liebowitz said.

Quinnipiac University School of Law is located on the Hamden-based university’s North Haven campus with nearly 400 students pursuing a law degree or one of five joint degrees, including the law degree/MBA.

Gallini currently serves as dean and professor of law at Willamette University College of Law in Salem, Oregon. He has ties to Connecticut and the Northeast, and said the transition period is ongoing until he officially starts July 1.

“I have long appreciated Quinnipiac's commitment to innovation and experiential learning from afar, and I look forward to partnering with students, faculty, staff and alumni to continue building on the law school's outstanding reputation,” he said.

He said he was drawn to Quinnipiac for its wide portfolio of programs, from nursing, communications and law schools, to its athletics and alumni engagement.

Gallini holds law degrees from the Beasley School of Law at Temple University and from the University of Michigan Law School, and a bachelor’s degree from the College of the Holy Cross.

According to the school, Gallini is a scholar in criminal law and has developed seminars, taught overseas, and is regularly cited by international media outlets, from local to international.
