Quinnipiac University has hired a former University of Connecticut official to expand its innovation and entrepreneurship efforts.

Mostafa Analoui, a Madison resident, has been selected to be Quinnipiac’s Carlton Highsmith Chair of Innovation & Entrepreneurship, the university announced this week.

Analoui also will be responsible for creating and sustaining an external network of collaborators to boost community engagement and economic development. He will also help create new programs and expand existing ones at the Hamden-based Quinnipiac.

Analoui had most recently worked as managing director at Pickwick Capital Partners, a New York-based investment firm.

Between 2016 and 2022, Analoui served as executive director of UCONN Ventures, which helps develop business startups based on technology developed by the university’s faculty and staff. He also was a research professor at UConn.

Quinnipiac Provost Debra Liebowitz said Analoui’s background includes supporting and developing entrepreneurial activities of students, faculty members and the community.

“He has an incredible breadth of interdisciplinary experiences that will be invaluable as we continue to build an innovation ecosystem throughout the university,” Liebowitz said.
