Connecticut’s taxes may be among the highest in the country, but that doesn’t mean its state government services are the best.
A recent study found the Nutmeg State has the second-worst government customer service satisfaction rating in the United States.
Qualtrics, a cloud-based platform that helps organizations manage customer service, conducted a survey of nearly 20,000 customers of state and federal services between December 2023 and January 2024.
Qualtrics derived the customer service satisfaction rankings from their responses.
Connecticut ranked No. 50 out of 51, with a 51% customer satisfaction rate. Only Illinois fared worse, with a satisfaction rate of 49%.
The top five states for state government customer service were Alaska and South Dakota, both with a satisfaction rate of 72%; followed by Florida (70%), Maryland (67%) and New Hampshire (66%).
Connecticut’s neighbors, Massachusetts and New York, both had customer service satisfaction rates of 59%, ranking No. 25 and No. 26.
Rhode Island also scored toward the bottom, with a 56% satisfaction rate, ranking No. 39.
