Report: Hartford’s tech labor pool is growing

Growth in Hartford’s supply of technology talent quickened over the past two years, according to a new analysis from nationwide commercial broker-adviser CBRE.

In 2017 and 2018, the Hartford market added 4.7 percent more technology jobs, as compared to 1.7 percent in 2015 and 2016. The spread between those two growth rates ranked 10th in the country, making Hartford a “momentum market,” CBRE said.

Last year, Hartford ranked seventh in the momentum metric.

In all, Hartford has 25,770 technology employees as of 2018, according to the analysis. That’s up 9.4 percent from 2013. Over that same period, the average tech wage in the area has grown 11.5 percent, to $98,645 per year, CBRE said.
