Ready, set, go — open your wallet!

Complete with a countdown clock and a musical guest, Yale University’s first capital campaign in a decade is set to launch on Saturday with an online event.

The campaign, a fundraising drive to supplement the university’s $31 billion endowment, has been operating in a “silent phase” since earlier this year.

Traditionally, each Yale president presides over a capital campaign: The new drive will be under the auspices of the school’s 23rd president, Peter Salovey.

The fundraising target for this campaign will be $6 billion, much of it already raised in the silent phase, according to the Yale Daily News. The campaign’s theme will be “For Humanity,” The News reported, with a focus on the university’s contributions to the world.

The most recent capital campaign completed, “Yale Tomorrow,” brought in $3.88 billion and ended in 2011.

The three-hour virtual launch will start with a presentation on the theme of “What is Yale for?” streamed live from the newly renovated Commons in the Yale Schwarzman Center. The campus hub reopened this fall after renovations made with a $150 million gift from private equity billionaire Steven Schwarzman.
