The town of Farmington has approved changes to a 204-unit apartment development near Batterson Park, which has been taken over by a new owner.
The Planning and Zoning Commission originally approved plans for the project in April 2022. Since then, the property at 74-76 Batterson Park Road has been acquired by Fairfield-based Skala Partners.
In March, Skala Partners purchased the 10-acre site from New York-based real estate investment firm Sovereign Partners for $7.8 million. The deal was brokered by CBRE.
Skala Partners is led by brothers Aristides and Niko Koutouvides, a former linebacker for the New England Patriots, who both graduated from Plainville High School.
Skala Partners recently submitted several site plan modifications, which include underground parking with 40 spaces, requiring an adjustment to the driveway.
Also, the pool area and drop-off area have been refined, and a small dog park was added.
Although few changes were made to the four-story building, the developers added “dens” to the units – a modern-day trend to create a separate space to work from home.
During a July 17 meeting, the commission unanimously approved the changes, with a condition that tenants may not convert the dens into bedrooms.
The development, called Pond View Apartments, will feature market-rate units, the developer said.
Amenities include a clubhouse, fitness center with yoga, resort-style pool, package lockers, game room, business center and rooftop deck.
