Ride New Haven, the city’s bike share program, is making a return after a four-year hiatus, with a new fleet of e-bikes.
Drop Mobility was selected as the program vendor, and The Devil’s Gear, a local New Haven bike shop, will operate and maintain the e-bike system.
New Haven Mayor Justin Elicker is set to join officials from the parking authority, Drop Mobility, The Devil’s Gear, and other local and community leaders Tuesday, for the launch, which includes a fleet of 100 new electric bikes that will be placed at 30 stations throughout the city.
Riders can sign up for the program through Ride New Haven’s mobile app with pay-as-you-go, monthly membership and annual membership options.
Along with new e-bikes, 100 pedal bikes from a previous ride program, will also be available in the coming weeks.
Earlier this year, the New Haven Parking Authority issued a request for proposals to relaunch the bike share program, in which The New Haven Coalition for Active Transportation (NCAT) is also collaborating with Ride New Haven to offer free e-bike share classes for adults starting in September.
Elicker and other officials will kick off the program Tuesday afternoon at the intersection of Grand and Blatchley avenues.
