A Connecticut-based pizza restaurant and bar is adding a new location in Westport and relocating its “legacy” Norwalk location as it continues to grow both in and out of the state.
Riko’s Pizza, based in Stamford, has five locations in Connecticut, all in Fairfield County. The company said Tuesday it plans to open a sixth location at 60 Charles St. in Westport, just off Exit 17 of Interstate 95 and directly across from the Metro North train station and Luciano Park.
Riko's of Westport will feature a 2,400-square-foot restaurant that includes 27 tables, a 38-foot-long bar with 18 stools, and 20 televisions. The new location is being launched in partnership with a new franchisee group and is expected to open in the fourth quarter of this year or first quarter of 2025, it said.
"Westport is not only one of the most dynamic markets in Connecticut, but one of the top suburban markets for restaurant operators anywhere in the country," said Rico Imbrogno, co-founder and CEO of Riko's Pizza.
The Westport location will join five others in Connecticut, including two in Stamford and one each in Darien, Fairfield and Norwalk.
The company said the decision to move and upgrade its Norwalk location was made as part of its growth strategy. The takeout-only facility, now located at 247 Connecticut Ave., will move to 85 New Canaan Ave. in Norwalk and become a 4,600-square-foot, dine-in and takeout restaurant and bar with 32 tables, a 37-foot-long bar with 25 stools, and 14 TVs.
Once the new restaurant opens, which is also expected to happen by the end of this year or early next year, the takeout-only site will close, the company said.
"Our full restaurant and bar concept has proven successful everywhere we go, and we are thrilled to bring it to the Norwalk market, where we have successfully operated a takeout-only restaurant since 2012,” Imbrogno said.
Founded in 2011, Riko's Pizza offers thin-crust, tavern-style pizza, salad pizza and an extensive selection of craft beers, wines and specialty cocktails.
In addition to its existing five locations in Connecticut, Riko’s currently has 10 locations overall — including four that are corporate-owned and six franchises. It has two restaurants in New York and Florida and one in Massachusetts. It is building three other locations out of state, including one each in Florida, North Carolina and Vermont.
