Riko’s Thin Crust Pizza, a New England-based pizzeria known for its crispy, thin-crust pizza, oven baked wings and Hot Oil Pizza, recently opened its first location in Darien.

The new pizzeria opened its doors March 17 at 934 Boston Post Rd. in Darien, making it the fifth location in Connecticut.

The Darien location was previously occupied by Louie’s Italian Restaurant and is located across from the Metro-North train station.

According to Rikos’ Chief Operating Officer Luigi Cardillo Jr., the company is thrilled to be part of downtown Darien.

“Darien is a great market,” Cardillo said. “We've been searching for a location in Darien for years and when this spot opened up, we were ecstatic.  We have a lot of brand recognition in Connecticut and are excited to continue to expand the Riko's brand.”

Riko’s opened a restaurant at 1920 Blackrock Turnpike in Fairfield in February. They also have eateries in Stamford, Norwalk, New York and Florida.

Riko’s is known for its thin crust pizza, namely its spicy homemade hot oil and stinger peppers that comprise its signature Hot Oil Pizza. Along with its hot wings and salads, Riko’s new Darien location will feature desserts, including Reese’s Peanut Butter Pie and Lemon Marscapone Cake, and a bar area with signature cocktails.

The new restaurant has seating for 170 people indoors, along with an additional 48 patio seats. Its hours of operation are Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. until 11 p.m., and Sundays from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m.
