Sacred Heart University’s Jack Welch College of Business & Technology has added sales management as a new minor.
According to the Fairfield-based university, it is geared toward people seeking a career in sales or who want to learn more about how companies structure their sales divisions. The university hopes the minor will appeal to students who aren’t pursuing business careers too.
Martha Crawford, college dean, said having an understanding of sales is an “extremely beneficial skill set.”
“Every company has something to sell; sales is an area our students are guaranteed to come across wherever they find themselves working,” Crawford said.
The minor has two required courses, including an introduction to customer-centric selling, and sales force leadership and management. Students can choose from a variety of electives to fulfill the minor requirements.
Students will learn about solving customers’ problems, fulfilling their needs and helping them better their lives, according to the university.
