Connecticut Science Center CEO Matt Fleury has been named the new chairman of the Board of Regents for Higher Education. Its incumbent Nicholas M. Donofrio stepped down after completing a four-year term.

Fleury has served as a member of the board since its creation in 2011, including through roles as chairman of its finance and infrastructure committee, as a member of the executive committee, and on various presidential search committees.

Fleury is the president and CEO of the Connecticut Science Center in downtown Hartford. He helped launch the Connecticut Science Center in his prior capacity with the Capital Region Development Authority, after professional experiences in corporate communications and journalism. He also serves as a board and executive committee member of the international Association of Science and Technology Centers, and as a board member of the MetroHartford Alliance.

Fleury graduated from Berkshire Community College in Massachusetts and holds an undergraduate degree in business and communications from Charter Oak State College. He also earned an MBA from the UConn School of Business.
