Stratford-based aerospace manufacturer Sikorsky recently inked a $251.4 million deal to sell eight Black Hawk helicopters to Croatia, the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) announced.

The deal with Sikorsky, the helicopter-maker subsidiary of defense industry giant Lockheed Martin Co., includes providing the aircraft, equipment and parts for the UH-60M Black Hawk helicopters. The deal was procured through a U.S. government foreign military sale with money from Croatia and Jordan, the DoD said, and is expected to be completed in mid-2027.

Croatia now has 12 Black Hawks in its fleet, according to information from Sikorsky.

Also last week, Waterford-based Sonalysts Inc. was awarded a separate $8.9 million foreign military sale deal for the German Navy. Sonalysts is a multi-faceted company specializing in analysis and research, training systems, simulation programs, software engineering and other areas and primarily works with the DoD, according to its website.

The contract tasks Sonalysts with supporting the German Navy to use its Dangerous Waters simulation engine through mid-2029. Dangerous Waters was developed as a commercial game by the company’s Sonalysts Combat Simulations branch in the early 2000s, and the program is still being updated and used by both the military and simulation game fans.
