The Teamsters Union Local 1150 has approved a new contract with Stratford helicopter maker Sikorsky that grants raises of more than 15 percent over the next five years.
Members voted 2,235 to 66 in favor of the pact, according to results published Monday on the union’s website. Connecticut members supported it 1,857 to 64, while Florida members approved it 378 to 2.
Hourly workers will get annual raises of 3 percent along with nine cost-of-living adjustments over the life of the five-year contract, according to a summary posted on the website. The agreement also includes a $5,000 ratification bonus to be paid in two installments -- half in January and the rest in February 2021.
The union represents 3,123 employees at Sikorsky’s facilities in Stratford, Bridgeport and Shelton and 698 in West Palm Beach, Fla., according to the company.
“We are pleased to have ratified the contract,” Jay Bennett, Sikorsky vice president for human resources said in a statement. “The negotiating teams for both the company and the union worked hard to reach an agreement acceptable to both sides.”
Officials with Local 1150 did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Last year, the union agreed to a concessions package with Sikorsky parent Lockheed Martin calling for a 25 percent pay cut for new hires, part of a deal that will keep the company manufacturing U.S. military helicopters in Connecticut through 2032.
