A Silicon Valley-based children’s coding franchise is breaking into the Northeast market this month with a new school in Farmington.

TheCoderSchool at 1051 Farmington Ave., opening Oct. 13, will provide computer programming lessons to students ages 7 to 18 through after school and summer classes.

Husband and wife Vaishali and Chirayu Shah will own and operate the school. Vaishali previously served as a radiation therapist in Boston for 12 years and most recently worked as a professor for Manchester Community College. Chirayu is currently a project manager at ESPN.

Under the program, the franchise uses several platforms to teach coding languages including HTML, CSS, Python, Javascript and more.

Hansel Lynn, founder of theCoderSchool, said the franchise chose the Shahs to lead its Northeast expansion due to their passion for teaching technology and coding.

Founded in 2014, theCoderSchool franchise operates more than 20 schools in seven states, including several in California, and others in Georgia, Illinois, North Carolina, Nevada, Texas and Washington, among others. Other new developments are also planned.
