A Bloomfield-based solar and energy storage developer has withdrawn its application to build a solar farm, with 3,680 photovoltaic panels and 13 inverters, in South Windsor.
C-Tec Solar LLC proposed the facility, which would generate 1.66 megawatts of electricity, at 186 Foster St.
C-Tec filed a petition with the Connecticut Siting Council to approve the project, which it said would have no adverse environmental impact and would comply with state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection air and water quality standards.
The property at 186 Foster St. is 16.5 acres and is owned by Helen Gallivan of Longmeadow, Massachusetts. It is largely cleared and has a barn. The property is zoned rural residential.
The project would have occupied 7.91 acres. The proposal was opposed by neighbors, some of whom have backyards that abut the property.
In a letter dated Aug. 27, C-Tec’s attorney informed the Connecticut Siting Council that it “will not be able to meet the timeline necessary to proceed in this matter.”
The Connecticut Siting Council’s deadline to issue a decision was Sept. 10. A public hearing scheduled for June 27 was canceled.
C-Tec is also developing several battery-powered projects in Connecticut and Massachusetts. It’s unclear whether the company will file a new petition for the South Windsor project.
