Plans for a new daycare center in Southington, one of several locations throughout the state, have been approved.
Avon-based Southington West St LLC and principals Eric Spungin and Louay Akil plan to build a 10,000-square-foot daycare facility at 1268 West St., called The Learning Experience.
Spungin said Southington West will purchase the property from current owners, Southington-based Lovely Development LLC, for an undisclosed amount now that approvals are in hand.
The Florida-based early education and daycare provider recently announced four new locations in the Hartford market over the next two years.
A site in Cheshire on Highland Avenue is currently under construction, and Southington will begin shortly after developers close on the property. Those facilities are set to open later this year.
Future projects include The Learning Experience centers in Vernon and Avon, plans that have yet to be submitted to land use boards, Spungin said.
Each location will have about 30 staff members and certified teachers, serving children running in age from 6 weeks old to 6 years old.
The company has multiple centers throughout Connecticut, each with about 10,000 square feet of indoor space with 5,000-square-foot playgrounds, including Wethersfield, Cromwell, New Haven, Newington, South Windsor, Enfield and Newtown, Spungin said.
The Learning Experience, based out of Florida, has opened more than 80 new locations across the country over the last two years, bringing its total to over 340 locations in 28 states. The company plans to open more than 75 new locations over the next two years.
