A landscape and garden business in Southington will close to the public late this fall and switch to appointment-only visits starting in the spring.
Winterberry Gardens, located at 2070 West St., announced on Facebook that it will no longer be open to the public after Nov. 3.
Until then, the business’ normal hours will be in effect, and sales and discounts will be offered, Winterberry Gardens said in the post.
“This decision is driven by our commitment to adapt to the evolving needs of our clientele and the ever-changing industry climate,” the Facebook post reads. “We will be refocusing our people and property towards our growing service areas of landscape maintenance, fertilization, irrigation, landscape design and landscape installation.”
Customers who make appointments when the store reopens will be able to use gift cards, receive warranty items and use on-site design services, the post says.
Winterberry Gardens, founded by two brothers, Scot and Al Leavitt, opened in 1985.
“This was a difficult decision to make after so many years as a gardener’s destination,” the post says. “And we sincerely thank every one of you for helping support us over so many years.”
