Low-cost carrier Spirit Airlines on Wednesday launched its new, nonstop service from Bradley International Airport in Windsor Locks to Miami, Florida.

Officials with the Connecticut Airport Authority, which oversees Bradley, said Spirit will operate the new direct route daily, year-round.

“We are thrilled with Spirit Airlines’ expansion at Bradley Airport and the addition of their new, nonstop service to Miami,” said CAA Executive Director Kevin A. Dillon. “The new route strengthens our region’s connectivity to a key Florida destination, giving our passengers now even more convenient and affordable travel options. It is also an indicator of Spirit Airlines’ growing popularity among our passenger base and its confidence in our award-winning airport.”

The new route comes as Bradley works to boost passenger volume and restore service to destinations that were cut off during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, when air traffic across the country plummeted.

Spirit Airlines has been operating at Bradley International Airport since April 2017. It provides nonstop service to Fort Myers, Fort Lauderdale, Orlando, Tampa and Miami, all in Florida, and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
