Splash Car Wash gets new CEO, majority investor

Splash Car Wash Dan Patrelle, new CEO of Splash Car Wash.

Splash Car Wash has named a new CEO as the Milford-based chain goes under new majority private equity ownership.

Dan Patrelle, the company’s chief operating officer for the past 22 years, will assume the CEO role from co-founder Mark Curtis, who will become chairman of the board, Splash said.

Splash, which started in 1981 with one car wash in Greenwich, operates 65 locations in Connecticut, New York, Massachusetts and Vermont.

The leadership change comes as Splash gains a new majority owner. Boston-based Palladin Consumer Retail Partners LLC said it has sold its majority stake in the company to New York-based AEA Investors Small Business Private Equity.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

"Palladin has been a great partner, helping us strategically expand into new markets, integrate multiple acquisitions and develop new sites,” Curtis said. “Now, with Dan at the helm and AEA as a strategic partner, Splash is even further equipped to grow and maintain its long-standing commitment to best-in-class service."
