Stamford-based CoreBev acquires Waterbury distillery

Contributed Continuum Distilling products.

A Waterbury-based distillery, Continuum Distilling, has been acquired by an alcoholic beverage group in Stamford.

CoreBev announced Wednesday that it acquired Continuum, following a $1 million Series A funding round meant to fuel expansion and acquisitions.

Deal terms were not released.

CoreBev said the acquisition underscores its aggressive growth strategy while maintaining its commitment to environmentally responsible practices in spirit production.

Continuum describes itself as an “eco-centric distillery.” It produces craft spirits from the byproducts of beer production, including sugar, grains and hops.

Continuum is located at 2066 Thomaston Ave., in the same complex as Brass Works Brewing Co.

"Continuum Distilling is not just another addition to our portfolio, but more of a strategic alignment of ethos, values and vision aimed at setting a new industry standard,” said Stelios Stavrianos, founder and CEO of CoreBev.

Continuum has three flagship products: gin, rum and whiskey – all made from byproducts of beer.

Brandon Collins, founder of Continuum, will continue as the master distiller under a multi-year contract.

"The partnership with CoreBev allows me to direct my talent and energy to distilling quality, handcrafted spirits that are both innovative and sustainable while simultaneously expanding our distribution footprint," Collins said.

The deal marks CoreBev's second major acquisition. Two years ago, the company acquired The Cocktail Chemist, founded by Dimitrios Zahariadis, who is now chief operating officer at CoreBev.
