State announces financing for 9 residential developments set to begin construction

Seilia Mosquera-Bruno

The state has announced that it will provide financing for nine development projects across eight towns and cities, which will create 658 housing units.

The financing agreements mean construction can begin on the developments, which are located in Ansonia, East Hartford, Fairfield, New Britain, Rocky Hill, Stamford, Stratford and West Hartford.

The Connecticut Department of Housing will provide more than $21.8 million in loans and grants; the Connecticut Housing Finance Authority will provide low-income housing tax credits that are expected to generate more than $55 million in private investment along with $61.5 million in first mortgage financing.

Of the 658 housing units, 381 are affordable units for low- and moderate-income renters. Ten will be designated as permanent supportive housing.

In addition, the Connecticut Housing Finance Authority signed financing agreements totaling $4.37 million for 143 units to be funded by the Build For CT program, which is creating affordable housing for middle-income renters.

“By supporting these developments, we are not just building housing; we are strengthening communities, advancing economic stability and ensuring that more residents — whether seniors or working families — have a place to call home,” state Commissioner of Housing Seila Mosquera-Bruno said. “These investments are another example of our commitment to creating affordable and equitable housing opportunities across Connecticut.”

The projects include:

  • James O’Donnell Apartments – Ansonia
  • Veterans Terrace III – East Hartford
  • 131 Beach - Fairfield
  • 480 Myrtle Street – New Britain
  • Rocky Hill Senior Housing – Rocky Hill
  • Parkside Gables – Stamford
  • Shippan Place – Stamford
  • The Villages – Stratford
  • Elle at North Main – West Hartford
