A state initiative meant to bolster start-up companies and entrepreneurs in Connecticut has awarded nearly two dozen people and organizations a $5 million round of funding for the program’s second year, Connecticut Innovations announced.

CTNext, which is a network of incubators, mentors and other providers, has added several new contractors for its second year, including educational resources for veterans, an entrepreneurship program for children and a hacker space in Danbury.

In all, 23 contracts were awarded to 19 organizations and four advisors across the state.

“In its first year of execution, CTNext has proven a valuable resource to entrepreneurs,” CI CEO Claire Leonardi said in a statement. “As the ecosystem continues to evolve, we would like to offer entrepreneurs a broader range of resources tailored to their needs.”

CI oversees the program under a contract with the state's Department of Economic and Community Development.
