East Hartford’s Bakery on Main is in line for a $3 million state loan to help it move to a new facility, purchase equipment and more than double its workforce, Gov. Dannel P. Malloy’s office announced.
Bakery on Main has pledged to retain its existing 59 jobs and add 70 new jobs over the next four years.
The state’s Department of Economic and Community Development will forgive half of the loan, which carries 2-percent interest over a 10-year term, if the business keeps its job pledge.
Bakery On Main will invest $600,000 of its own money into the expansion, and has also secured $5 million in bank financing, according to officials.
The bakery, which specializes in gluten-free products, is moving to a 111,000-square-foot facility at 127 Park Ave., just up the street from its 375 Park Ave. location.
