Consumers have about three weeks left to visit a Disney Store in Connecticut after the company announced it will be closing their doors for good at the Danbury Fair Mall and the Westfarms mall in Farmington.

Those are the only Disney stores left in the state.

The two locations will close on or before Sept. 15, according to the store's website.

In March, the company announced plans to focus its business on ecommerce and significantly reduce its brick-and-mortar footprint, which began with the closure of about 60 stores across the country.

“While consumer behavior has shifted toward online shopping, the global pandemic has changed what consumers expect from a retailer,” said Stephanie Young, president, Consumer Products Games and Publishing said in a March press release

“Over the past few years, we’ve been focused on meeting consumers where they are already spending their time, such as the expansion of Disney store shop-in-shops around the world. We now plan to create a more flexible, interconnected ecommerce experience that gives consumers easy access to unique, high-quality products across all our franchises.”

Last year, the Walt Disney Co. and Target Corp. announced a retail collaboration to bring Disney stores to about 25 Target stores nationwide, however no locations were opened in the state.
