Stratford health and beauty product manufacturer Aptar Group has been named the Connecticut Business Leader for Energy Efficiency.

The award, put out by the Northeast Energy Efficiency Partnerships, honors companies in the region that make significant commitments to reducing their energy use. The 14 businesses recognized this year achieved a cumulative cost savings of $4 million for their projects.

Aptar achieved annual cost savings of $121,000 and more than 900,000 kilowatt hours each year through various efficiency measures, including new roof air conditioners, better lighting and leak protection.

In Connecticut, Woodstock electronics manufacturer Rogers Corp. and Dayville precision manufacturer Web Industries were finalists for the state champion award.

The other state champions were Northeastern University in Massachusetts, DevTech Labs in New Hampshire, the National Housing Trust in Washington, D.C., Ahold USA of New York, the Rhode Island Department of Transportation, and the Central Vermont Medical Center.
