Connecticut continues to lead the nation in the cost of electricity.

A new study from Texas Electricity Ratings found that Connecticut has the fourth most-expensive electricity in the country, with an annual bill estimate of $2,363 for 2024.

Hawaii had the highest electricity costs, with an estimated annual bill of $3,450, followed by Maine and Florida.

Nationally, household electricity bills increased an average of 3.38% in 2023, according to the study.

The study used state data from the Environmental Investigation Agency to predict annual electricity bills.

The state with the lowest annual bill estimate was Utah, with yearly spending on electricity of $1,047 – just $87.25 per month.

The other states with the least-expensive electricity were, in ascending order, Wyoming, Colorado, Montana and Illinois.
