Milford-based Subway announced last week it would be hiring 50,000 people in June as part of a nationwide recruitment effort.

Jobs offered range from “sandwich artist” to management at the chain’s 20,000 U.S. stores.

The company said it expects a busy summer after posting sales gains last year. Its recent "Eat Fresh Refresh" ad campaign and increased restaurant traffic pushed August 2021 sales up 4% compared to the same period in 2019, according to Subway.

On Monday, Subway announced its “refreshed” catering program, targeting companies that are bringing workers back to the office.

New offerings include the new “Easy Order,” a simplified ordering process featuring pre-selected platters and lunch box options and upgraded single-serve and pre-wrapped food packaging.

Subway has also become a vendor on the ezCater marketplace, a leading nationwide provider for corporate food programs.

Trevor Haynes, president of Subway North America, said, “Over the last year, we've continued to see an increased demand for pickup and delivery orders overall, alongside larger catering orders spurred by a return to in-office operations and increased gatherings.”

According to Subway, 93% of companies report that more employees show up to the office on days when their employer provides free food.
