Milford-based restaurant brand Subway has opened a new global dual-headquarters in Miami’s Waterford Business District.
The new headquarters will be located at 1000 Sub Way, formerly 1000 NW 57th Court. The new street name was designated by Miami-Dade County.
The new building will include the company’s first Innovation Center and mock restaurant. The center will serve as a “think tank” for future innovation. The mock restaurant will resemble a real one and allow employees to test products in a realistic setting.
The headquarters will also feature multiple collaborative spaces, a fitness center and cafeteria.
Chief Executive Officer John Chidsey said, “From its flourishing business climate to its rich cultural heritage, Miami is an ideal location for our business to continue to evolve as part of our ongoing transformation journey.”
The office will be home to approximately 150 local employees, including consumer facing workers and Subway’s Latin American regional office staff.
Bill Ekstrom, Subway director of business services, said, “The location, amenities and workspaces make the new headquarters an ideal setup for innovation and collaboration and, in turn, helps us create better experiences for our guests and franchisees.”
Subway will continue its presence in Connecticut, with the Milford-based employees set to move to Connecticut’s modernized headquarters in Shelton later this year.
