A Shelton-based developer recently paid $10 million for three Milford properties owned by Subway where he plans to build a new warehouse and renovate two buildings to lease to a growing local auto parts company.
Robert Scinto, president of R.D. Scinto Inc., purchased 325 Bic Drive, Milford, also known as 325 Sub Way, which was the former sandwich franchise’s 90,000-square-foot headquarters. In October, the company relocated to a Shelton corporate office space, owned by Scinto.
Scinto, as principal 305 Subway Drive LLC, also bought a 36,400-square-foot building at 300 Bic Drive and a 21,100-square-foot building at 336 Bic Drive, in deals recorded Dec. 14, according to city land records.
Scinto won town approval for the $20 million project that includes demolishing the corporate headquarters, building a new 160,000-square-foot distribution center and renovating the 330 and 336 Bic Drive buildings.
He plans to lease the three-building campus to Milford-based FCP Euro, an e-commerce auto-parts distributor.
The new warehouse would have 20 loading bays and higher ceilings to allow for more storage and distribution capabilities, as well as a renovated 45,000-square-foot corporate office building and a remodeled 25,000-square-foot production studio to make instructional videos for car owners to install parts.
Demolition on the Subway headquarters has started, Scinto said, and he hopes to break ground on the new warehouse in four to six weeks, with construction completed by the end of 2024.
