A global technology consulting firm is opening an office in downtown Hartford that will support up to 300 employees on a hybrid basis.

Larsen & Toubro Infotech, which is headquartered in Mumbai, India, announced Wednesday it is opening a new “engagement center” in the historic “Boat Building” on Constitution Plaza where it will occupy 13,000 square feet.

The office will primarily provide support for local clients, which include companies in the banking, insurance, manufacturing, aerospace, finance and life sciences sectors, LTI officials said.

The company did not disclose exactly how many workers will be based in the building but did note that the space will be able to accommodate over 100 people.

LTI said it expects to hire graduates from the University of Connecticut, University of St. Joseph and Central Connecticut State University.

“This new LTI engagement center is a powerful addition to the rapidly growing tech ecosystem in the city of Hartford,” Mayor Luke Bronin said in a statement. “LTI has committed to building partnerships and investing in the Hartford community and the Greater Hartford region, and we look forward to working closely with LTI to help build a talent pipeline in partnership with our educational institutions.”

LTI is the latest tech company to either open in Hartford or expand its presence in the city.

In February, GalaxE.Solutions announced plans to bring around 180 jobs to Hartford as part of a worker relocation project. The company has its offices at CityPlace I in downtown.
