Property and casualty insurer The Hartford has partnered with Marvin Behavioral Health, based in Marina del Rey, California, to provide specialized mental health resources for healthcare professionals.

The benefits will be available to The Hartford’s life and disability insurance customers who work in the healthcare industry.

“Health care employees often face difficult situations in the course of their work, such as losing a patient, delivering hard news to a patient or family or other traumatic experiences that may affect their mental health,” said John Gallant, The Hartford’s head of product and underwriting for group benefits. “We believe it is critical to connect our customers with Marvin to help them holistically support the well-being of their employees.”

A recent study by The Hartford found that 64% of healthcare workers experienced “some level” of burnout at work, with 26% saying they always/often experience burnout.

Nearly one out of five healthcare workers said their mental health “always or almost always” negatively impacts their productivity at work.

Further, 63% of healthcare workers believed their employer should be providing more mental health tools and resources.

Marvin, which works exclusively with healthcare employers, offers unlimited therapy sessions to its members along with 24/7 video call services. The company also provides resources to employers to improve workplace-related drivers of mental health concerns.
