Florida fondue restaurant chain The Melting Pot is looking to make an expansion into Greater Hartford.
The casual-dining franchise, best known for its cheese and chocolate melted dips, is looking for a new franchisee to open a location in the Hartford market. Melting Pot currently has one Connecticut restaurant in Darien, which opened in 2005.
The company said its trying to expand in a number of U.S. markets — Anchorage, Ala.; Charleston, S.C.; New York City; Houston, Texas; and Little Rock, Ark. — to grow its brand.
“The Melting Pot concept is backed by 30 years of experience in franchising and nearly 40 years of brand recognition,” said Dan Stone, vice president of franchise development for Front Burner Brands, which is working to open the new restaurant in Connecticut. “We look forward to bringing our one-of-a-kind, polished casual dining experience to the Hartford market for the very first time. We're confident that The Melting Pot will be a welcomed addition to the Hartford community.”
The Melting Pot currently operates 135 restaurants in the U.S., Canada and Mexico and has more than 25 locations in development internationally. The menu features a variety of à la carte selections, including customizable options that allow guests to have one, two, three or more courses as they select any combination of individually-priced cheese fondues, salads, entrées and chocolate fondues.
The company said it's looking for entrepreneurs with business backgrounds and/or restaurant experience as well as deep pockets. Investors need to have a minimum net worth of $750,000 and liquid assets of at least $325,000 per unit. Depending on the real estate site selected, franchisees can expect the total investment for one restaurant to be approximately $977,000 to $1.4 million, the company said.
Single-unit and multi-unit franchise opportunities are available with an initial franchise fee of $45,000 per unit.
