Two Connecticut cities recently ranked among the top 150 places to live in the United States, according to U.S. News & World Report – but they were near the bottom.

New Haven ranked No. 147, with an overall score of 5.2 out of 10, a quality of life score of 6.6 and a value score of 3.7.

“New England's charm and global cosmopolitanism combine in this small, livable metropolitan area of the seaside,” the magazine said of New Haven.

U.S. News highlighted New Haven’s cuisine, which ranges from famous pizza joints to high-end restaurants, its walkable city center and Yale University.

Hartford ranked No. 148, with an overall score of five out of 10, a quality of life score of seven and a value score of 3.3.

“Don't let the historic architecture fool you: Even as one of the oldest cities in America, Hartford, Connecticut, has a lot to offer, both old and new,” the magazine said of Hartford.

U.S. News pointed out that Hartford has many cultural gems and a central business district that is home to several historic attractions and entertainment venues.

New Haven and Hartford scored ahead of two cities: Detroit, Michigan, and San Juan, Puerto Rico.

U.S. News ranked the cities based on a methodology that used data from the U.S. Census Bureau, FBI, U.S. Department of Labor and U.S. News' own internal resources.

The No. 1 place to live was Naples, Florida, followed by Boise, Idaho and Colorado Springs, Colorado.
