Thomaston Savings Bank plans to open a second Farmington branch in a former bank building at 2 South Main St.
Thomaston Savings filed Aug. 23 with the state Department of Banking to establish the branch, its 15th overall.
Stephen Lewis, Thomaston Savings Bank president and CEO, said in an email that interior and exterior renovations now underway will “provide an exceptional customer experience to align the building with Thomaston Savings Bank’s unique brand and Unionville’s distinctive architectural heritage.”
Thomaston Savings is one of three smaller banks that have opened Farmington branches in the past two years, filling a void created after People’s United Bank acquired Farmington Bank.
Thomaston Savings opened its first Farmington branch at 155 Scott Swamp Road in the winter of 2019 and is looking forward to the expansion, Lewis said.
“We have established many strong relationships with individuals, families, businesses and the community,” he said. “We are strongly committed to remaining a mutual community bank because we believe it provides the best path forward” to serving the Farmington community.
Lewis said the new branch will serve personal and business banking customers and include a dedicated commercial lender, residential lender and Infinex financial advisor.
