Connecticut's Department of Banking greenlit a Thomaston Savings Bank application to open a second Farmington branch.
The banking department made the decision last week, a couple months after Thomaston filed paperwork on Aug. 23 to open its 15th branch in a former bank building at 2 South Main St.
Thomaston Savings is one of three smaller banks that have opened Farmington branches in the past two years, filling a void created after People’s United Bank acquired Farmington Bank.
Thomaston Savings opened its first Farmington branch at 155 Scott Swamp Road in the winter of 2019.
Back in August Thomaston Savings Bank President and CEO Stephen Lewis said the company is looking forward to the expansion.
“We have established many strong relationships with individuals, families, businesses and the community,” Lewis said. “We are strongly committed to remaining a mutual community bank because we believe it provides the best path forward” to serving the Farmington community."
Lewis said the new branch will serve personal and business banking customers and include a dedicated commercial lender, residential lender and Infinex financial advisor.
